Today is an exciting day for us at Hawkesdale P12 College. All classes who are remaining at school, from grade prep through to year 9 will be in a classroom, logged on to a discoverE virtual classroom, to connect with and listen to Jean Pennycook, who is in a tent in Antarctica, with extremely limited internet access, researching the impact of global warming on the penguins. Here are some of the websites that feature Jean Pennycook if you would like to research her work further.
Friday morning at 10am is our backup time as the prevailing weather may prevent a linkup. Jean also writes story books on the penguins. Due to the low bandwidth, there will be no video image of her but chat and audio questions should be possible. We sincerley thank Jean for her time with us and Lorraine Leo for the great amount of work in connecting us together.

Congratulations Anne – what an excellent learning activity for our end-of-year program at Hawkesdale. Alannah thinks we are the luckiest school in the world to be able to ‘visit’ the penguins in Antarctica! I think we are very lucky to have teachers like you to facilitate these wonderful learning experiences for students.
