Blog Action Day – for Poverty

October 11, 2008 · No Comments

I met a teacher from Nepal  on classroom20 last week. These were our messages to each other.

Hello Govinda

How is your school going? What age groups do you teach? I also teach in a small rural school in south eastern Australia. Do you have computers in your school? I teach computer studies.

See you Anne

Here is Govinda’s reply….

It was therefore, rather coincidental that the next post in the blogging competition is in regard to poverty and that this week is Blog Action Week with a theme of “Poverty”. This letter really made me reflect on how fortunate we are, here in Australia, in our schools. However, poverty can occur in our district, state and country as well.

As Sue Waters says:

Blog Action Day is an annual nonprofit event that aims to unite the world’s bloggers, podcasters and videocasters, to post about the same issue on the same day…… by starting a global discussion we can all help bring about both personal actions and a raised awareness for global poverty action going on. Blog action day is on

Learn About PovertyWorld Vision Australia has organized prizes for Australian’s who write the best three blog posts about poverty on Blog Action Day

So you may wish to do the following

  1. Add a badge to your sidebar or post to promote the event – Use the code under the desired badge
  2. Register your blog – You don’t have to register to participate however the link they provide when you register will help them track all the posts.

See Sue’s post for more details on how to add the badge and register your blog.

Can we make poverty history?
